Revision Strategies of Student Writers and Experienced Adults

In my opinion the title says everything. The author wants to know about the difference between students and young adults when it comes to revision, and what are the steps that each one of them do in the process of revision. the purpose of this is to show the reader to revise properly your documents and not do the same mistake as a student. The revision needs to be since the beginning, at the moment you start writing, that's were the revision needs to be made. The author made a study with twenty freshmen at Boston University and the University of Oklahoma with SAT verbal scores ranging in 450 to 600 in their first semester of English and composition, and twenty experience adults writers from Boston and Oklahoma city that includes journalists, editors, and academics, and each one of them had to write three essays with their rough drafts (almost like four times). Revision is defined in many ways, students define revision not as a word they used but as a word their teachers used, some of the definitions are scratch out and do it over again, reviewing, redoing, marking out, and slashing and throwing out.They think is a rewording activity but on the contrary, revision is deletion, substitution, addition, and reordering. The four levels of revision are word, phrase, sentence, and theme. In my opinion I think the author learn how students use revision when doing a paper, and how experience writers do it, but I also think that there should be something to help the teachers and the students understand the truth meaning of revision.
